Some short points:

*Mini sport retrievers recognized as a breed in Canada while maintaining specific desired characteristics of sturdy 30 to 60 pounds, compact medium sized 14 to 18 inches, deep chest, fan tails, dense coats with waterproofing, friendly, outgoing, easy trainability, lovable, trustworthy, patient pets or working capable dogs.

  • * What our families say about our dogs: draw positive attention and people are always asking about the breed, they draw a crowd, absolutely marvellous member of our family, Much loved, very playful, exuberant, very affectionate, such a wonderful disposition, the puppies have a beyond cute factor that makes you just want to bundle them up as their coats are so silky it goes far beyond the fact that they are a puppy; its much more special! Including compliments about "what a well behaved dog!", it is a special concoction supported by trainers/vets/daycares/and more... Owning a Mini Sport Retriever is a true honour and privilege; I am so blessed to have been chosen to be her parent!
  • * Many of our Mini Sport Retriever's as early as 4 to 5 weeks will select their own family or parent right upon meeting it is a rare opportunity to have a ready to go mini sport meet a family and turn around to walk ahead of a family out the door saying well its about time you showed up start the car!

To answer the question about shedding they are low shedding I have had purebred retrievers and know exactly what your talking about making a pillow at the end of the day. Even with 11 mini sports in my house at the end of the week I can’t come 1/3 of that pillow collection of hair. I can’t say they don’t shed at all some shed more than others and some not at all but they shed some but no where the amount of a retriever.

Longevity, I tell people that they are a pal for life I cannot promise or guarantee however we do have originals that are still living past 19 years old. However we are only allowed to say the average is 15 years they will see most young children through university or college provided they are fed and cared for well.

Health wise I call this mix my rock stars they are unbelievable if anything they are overly courageous and willing to take risks that most other dogs would second guess about. They love to learn new things and will easily climb ladders or follow the leader so like all good toddlers they will do as mom and dad do. Beau is my guy how if he wants something on the counter will push a chair and jump up and help himself only because he has seen me do so to reach the upper cabinets.

Siberian Sport Retrievers

Siberian Sport retriever line. They tend to be short coat the ones that are brindle or solid coloration and all behave completely like a golden retriever and are fun loving just like Beau. They tend to be smaller size and low weights for the girls. Boys do tend to be bigger of course. Depending on the boy. King who had 5 toes did turn out very large which was simply due to nature as he was king due to the pack of the extra toe that was a solid toe yet as you can see him as an adult, he is totally like his dad a complete ham. King turned out to be 60 pounds and was 18 inches high. Beaus’ male pups are typically 45 pounds to 54 pounds and 16 to 19 inches girls are 13 to 16 inches and 30 to 50 pounds.

I created the breed Siberian Sport Retrievers by crossing Siberian Husky dam a Runt dam purebred that had a great mask, pink ears but lacked the weight and height and coat of the typical Siberian as I didn't want that to carry into her pups and I specifically looked for a calm demeanors and not atypical personality types of husky's as I wanted her genes to be weak so that our Mini sports/ Dakota Sport Retriever breed to be the dominate breed not only in temperament but also in coloration and coat which I discovered in 4 litters was very strong.

Not only did their coats come out very lab or short and low shedding but their personalities are very sport retriever. The irritating husky behaviors of howling, digging, running away are nearly eliminated.  The pups must be given tasks or jobs as they are highly intelligent and constantly seeking something to do and want to be with their families no different than retrievers.

*Siberian’s crossed with retrievers is commonly known as Goberian’s the issues with the 50-50 cross remain as with the primary Siberian breed due to lineage dominance or genetic weakness. Training issues, regular grooming, daily exercise, and shedding.

*I desired to keep the Siberian primary characteristics but remove the shedding factor, remove the dominance in attitude as well as reducing the requirement of activity level and escapism while being a well-mannered family pet. As I found a very small female purebred Siberian with short coat and very unique mask and is a fantastic mom but a girl that still hides behind my skirt, she thinks she is a sport retriever herself and is busy teaching her pups how to search for rodents’ natural hunters and the magpies are backing off of going for food now as the pups are starting to tag team! Combined with our mini sport retriever breed the grooming is not as heavy as the standard breed more like once a month with a bath and exercise can be a couch potato or as active as you are not like a typical Siberian climbing the walls. I can tell you that already by trying to make the pups go out to play they are lazy(so not typical of the Siberian breed but so couch potato like of the mini sport retriever breed) they want to play for maybe 15 minutes then go back inside for several hours nap even by me trying to clean up the room I had a pup fall asleep on my mop she was that bored that chasing it back and forth was too much work she decided to ride it was easier and fell asleep after just 2 passes.
