Family & Facilities
My son and I work together in the rearing of our puppies and dogs including early crate and potty training. I have been raised with dogs my entire life over 30 years hailing from rural Alberta. In my lifetime so far I have had 17 dogs of my own. Some died of old age, predators or were re homed due to care requirements. I have generally owned pedigree cocker spaniels, 2 Dalmatian's, golden retrievers and this is a complete change to own the mix of 2 amazing family pets of cocker and retriever.
We know what it is like to have your home life and situations change. Not only is it hard to have to go through it ourselves but it affects our pets greatly. I know what it takes to own when I was a tenant in a apartment, tenant in a duplex and tenant in a house as well as owning as a home owner. Life can sometimes get in the way of pet ownership which is why I made the decision/ policy that any of our pups are to return to our care. We are doing this to bring in the new breed to Canada and purely for the love of our dogs. If timing isn't right today doesn't mean that it wouldn't be right in the future for a new potential owner.
I have been apart of formal training hands on through a registered Cocker Breeder in Edmonton AB through the years of 1995 through 1997. Elaine was instrumental in teaching me how to birth, care for pups, dogs, grooming and training. I have also had training in animal care through 4H in my younger years and continue to expand on the knowledge through renewed friendship some 16 years later with Marnie Wood and new friends in the industry. I am also supported by our founding breeder George and Karen Braunsen in South Dakota.
As a single parent of a 15 year old not only does it take commitment to rear a child the same applies to a new puppy. All of my dogs and puppies are my children. I am firm about structure, rules and time for fun.
Facilities
All of our puppies are born inside of our home. Then they are moved to our Nursery House thats right a house just for the welphing of our prestigious dogs! Where litters are kept in a designated area this area to start with will be a kiddy pool with mom where they are kept clean, and comfortable. Off the designated nursery house is a yard for our dogs to frolic in and a designated potty area for each litter with mom. We also have a training kennel area in the nursery house and bathing room.
We are now located on 162 acres in which we are planning to continue to develop many new areas for our dogs from a agility area, designated dog field/ run, developing a dog kennel/hotelier for dogs that need a place to come and stay as well we are excited to have our own mini sport families come recreate at our campground facilities.
Our dogs all have comfortable beds (yes that's right our beds), food & water 24/7, kiddy pool to play in during hot weather, ropes, tennis balls, & rawhides. They have plenty of room to run and get exercise.
We do not dock tails on our puppies. All of our puppies come with a two year hips & eyes guarantee. They are de-wormed at 8 weeks of age, for as long as they are in our care, up to 16 weeks old. Puppies are given first shots at 8 weeks old. We give them a booster at 12 weeks if they are still here and their rabies as well as schedule their spay and neuter. However, most puppies leave around 8 to 10 weeks old.
We name our puppies for registration purposes however prefer if the new owner has a name selected to be part of the registration. You name your puppy a name that you choose regardless of the registered name!
